Where to start

Where to start
If you are askingStart withLink
Mostly at home, with a phone line?A landline home unit, $27.95 a month
No landline at home?A cellular home unit, $34.95 a month

How to choose

Home or on the go. A home unit (a base console plus a wearable button) covers the house. A mobile device with GPS and its own cellular connection works away from home too, and needs charging. Bay Alarm Medical lists up to 72 hours of battery for its SOS All-In-One 2 and up to 36 hours for its SOS Micro23; Medical Guardian lists up to 5 days for its Guardian Flex4.

Landline or cellular. Both makers price a landline home unit lower than a cellular one: $27.95 against $34.95 per month at each, as listed167. A cellular unit needs no phone line.

Fall detection is an add-on. Both makers sell automatic fall detection as an option. Bay Alarm Medical lists its cellular home unit with fall detection at $44.95 per month1.

Read the trial and cancellation terms. Bay Alarm Medical lists a 15-day trial from delivery1. Medical Guardian's systems page notes that cancellation fees may apply8.
